Do We Really Care About our Health?

In all the talk about health care, few are asking the question: “Why are we getting sick?”

The first chakra is related to the element earth and to the aspect of consciousness oriented to survival. Denying the first chakra is a denial of our bodies, our environment, and the path to abundance. No wonder we are suffering from a health care crisis, an environmental crisis of global proportions, and an economic crisis. All of these effect our survival, yet all are an issue of health. We want healthy bodies, a healthy planet, and a healthy economy. These are all intricately related.

What is Mind-Body Therapy?

Many are the clients who come to me from years of traditional therapy and say, “I’ve done all this work on myself and learned all about how my problems are connected with this and that from my childhood — but it still hasn’t changed.” This is often because traumatic experiences are stored within the tissues and muscles of the body, becoming chronic holding patterns, or body armor, that keep us from feeling energetic, healthy, and at peace. Unless we address the “issues in the tissues,” our unconscious responses stored in the body become habitual recreators of patterns we would prefer to move beyond.

The problems of addiction and dysfunctional behavior patterns have become epidemic. In a culture out of balance with Nature, the sexes, races and religions and which employs barbaric child-rearing practices, it is no surprise that we encounter a constant barrage of human problems. Therapists are often expensive and friends undertrained or overwhelmed. As a result, many have found solace and healing through the use of “12-Step” groups that are available nearly free of charge across the nation.
