To complete
the Sacred Centers Certification Training students must take all courses
listed for their specialization, as well as complete a special project,
work with a mentor, read required texts, and have the necessary characteristics
for effective practice of their specialization. Other requirements are
as follows:
General
Certification (Level 1)
Independent
Yoga study. Yoga is an integral part of the chakra system,
and we strongly recommended that a person enrolling in any of these
certificate programs have at least two years of ongoing yoga classes
and personal practice.
A basic
grounding in yoga cannot adequately be taught in a weekend workshop,
and yoga classes are plentiful in almost any major city, the student
is expected to pursue this on their own, and bring in proof of competency
from their yoga instructor in basic asanas and yoga philosophy. These
classes can be taken during the training, or credited from previous
work in this area.
Professional
Certification (Level 2)
In addition
to the requirements for Level 1, those applying for certification as
a Chakra Instructor need to demonstrate
competency to teach the yoga related asanas, either through previous
teacher training or reasonable equivalent.
As a prerequisite,
candidates for certification as a Chakra Therapist
are expected to have basic training in clinical psychology skills in
order to be certified in our program. We will not be teaching basic
courses like Psychopathology, Counseling ethics, Family Therapy, or
other courses we deem necessary to adequately practice the art of psychotherapy.
A student must have a Master's degree in counseling related studies
or reasonable equivalent to complete their certification. In addition
to Level 1 coursework, they are required to undergo supervision and
attend one or more clinical case seminars.
Chakra
Bodyworkers are expected to have basic training in their
chosen field of bodywork, such as basic anatomy, Swedish or Deep tissue
massage, Rolfing, Chiropractic, acupuncture, etc. In addition to Level
1 coursework, they are required to undergo supervision and attend one
or more clinical case seminars.
Other
general requirements
At least five hours of private mentoring with a faculty mentor
is required though the number of hours may vary according to a student's
needs. This is decided on a case by case basis.
Reading:
There will also be reading requirements as part of the training,
which will vary from course to course.
